Andrew Douglas Story

August 1, 1946 ~ February 5, 2022 (age 75)


Mr. Andrew Douglas Story, age 75 of Ailey, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Community Hospice House following an extended illness.


He was born on August 1, 1946 in Augusta, GA to the late Andrew Story and Lura Lewis Story McCrimmon. He graduated from Harlem High School of Harlem, GA, earned an Associate’s Degree from Brewton-Parker College, and had attended Georgia Southern University. He owned and operated Story Logging, Inc., was a member of First Baptist Church Mount Vernon, a member of the Army National Guard, and was past Vice President of the Southeastern Wood Producer’s Association.


Mr. Story is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia Gail Vann Story; three daughters: Melanie S. Bryson (Barry), Millie S. Stokes (Donnie), and Andrea Story Phillips (Jasper), and six grandchildren: Dalton and Chance Stokes, Bailey Bryson, Payton, Jayla, and Ashton Phillips.


The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 12:00pm until 1:45pm at First Baptist Church Mount Vernon.

The funeral will be held at 2:00pm following the visitation in the sanctuary of the church with Rev. Karl Hay and Rev. Reece Mincey to officiate. Graveside service and interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Fountain, Louie Thompson, Scott Cooper, Steve Douglas, Bruce Herndon, Mickey Lonergan, Billy Rountree, and Gail Johnson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class.
